The Workshop

We undertake the whole range of repairs and restorations that may be required on instruments.

These range from the more common and frequent repairs; new bridge, sound post work, shooting fingerboards, new pegs, and rehairs through to more extensive restoration and reconstructions. These include pressing sunken archings, new bass bars, new necks, half edging and so on.

All workmanship is guaranteed

As well as violins, violas, cellos, basses and bows, we also undertake work on early and period instruments including lutes, viols and viola d’amores.

Most minor repairs can be carried out within one week
, larger repairs, are always arranged as far as possible to suit the musician's schedule. We frequently are called upon to carry out emergency work at very short notice.

Our fully equipped machine shop and extensive stock of timber enables us to convert and prepare the materials used in repair to match the original materials very closely. It also allows us to make all the necessary moulds and support structures needed to carry out these repairs.

All repair and restoration work is carried out by us in our premises. All workmanship is guaranteed. Not only do we carry out repairs for customers but we also renovate instruments we have in stock, before they are sold through the shop.
